Introduction
For those planning to become a FIFA-licensed football agent, it was recently announced that the 4th FIFA Football Agent Exam since its return in 2023 is scheduled for 20 November 2024, and once again we plan on being the biggest support we can to provide you with preparation guidance throughout the lead-up to the exam and beyond. This blog summarises what we know about the November exam and also introduces those who may not yet be familiar, to our highly successful ‘How to Pass the FIFA Football Agent Exam’ online course.
Key Dates and Application Process
The application period for the FIFA Football Agent Exam opens on 19 August 2024 and will remain open until 4 October 2024. If you wish to apply for this exam, you must visit the official FIFA Agent Portal. Before you start your application, it is essential to ensure that you meet all the eligibility criteria outlined by FIFA. These criteria typically include having a clean criminal record, relevant experience in the football industry, and other specific qualifications that FIFA may require.
When applying, you need to complete the application form with accurate and up-to-date information. Additionally, you must submit all necessary supporting documents to substantiate your credentials. Don’t forget to pay the required application fee once it arises on the Agent Portal, as this is necessary for the processing of your application and admittance to take the exam.
It is crucial to double-check that you meet all the eligibility requirements outlined in the FIFA Football Agent Regulations to avoid any last-minute complications that could jeopardise your application and ability to sit the exam. If you have any questions or need assistance during the application process, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help you navigate the process smoothly and ensure that you have the best chance of success.
The Exam Itself
We are still uncertain about the decision of the European Court of Justice regarding the currently suspended components of the FIFA Football Agent Regulations, including commission caps and multiple representations. However, the content of the exam will still cover the FIFA study materials, and the passing requirements and format are expected to remain the same.
The 2024 FIFA Football Agent Exam generally follows the same procedures as last year’s exam. The exam will be available in only three languages: English, Spanish, and French. Candidates are required to physically sit the exam at designated locations under strict ‘exam conditions’, and it is hoped that in 2024 this will be more seamlessly organised, avoiding some of the logistical issues encountered last year.
It is essential for candidates to provide their own laptop and ensure a stable internet connection for the digital exam. Any internet disruptions during the exam could invalidate the attempt, requiring reapplication at a later date. National Associations will provide venues where candidates can take the exam in person, ensuring a regulated and suitable assessment environment. Upon arrival, candidates must present personal identification and proof of exam fee payment. Only a candidate’s laptop and a device for creating an internet hotspot are allowed in the exam venue. Other items, such as earphones, devices with internet access, and mobile phones, must be switched off and kept away during the exam. Personal notes and materials are allowed due to the ‘open book’ nature of the exam, but they must be physical, as the use of computer software like Google is prohibited.
FIFA is committed to transparency and fair conduct during the exam. Standard exam rules apply, including no communication between candidates, attempts to copy answers, or causing disruptions. Leaving the exam without consent, recording the exam, sharing questions externally, or impersonating others are strictly prohibited and will be monitored by administrators and invigilators.
Passing Requirements
Once seated and accepted, candidates will access the online exam and have a designated time to complete it. The exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, with a 60-minute time limit. These questions involve scenarios and case studies, requiring candidates to select the best answer. Despite the ‘open book’ nature, quick thinking, prior knowledge, and strong navigation skills are essential due to the limited time available. The passing score remains 75%, or 15 correct answers out of 20. FIFA aims to maintain a challenging exam, akin to previous years before deregulation in 2015 and as was seen in 2023.
Candidates can expect to receive their exam results within seven business days. Those who do not pass will be informed about retesting opportunities in November or the chance to review their previous attempt. The result cannot be appealed unless exceptional circumstances affected many candidates, as was seen in England in September 2023. For successful candidates, instructions for completing the licensing procedure will be provided.
